OACYC Membership in the "near north" has increased considerably in the past year or two.  To celebrate this fact, we held our third regional conference in Sudbury.  Sudbury is also the home of Cambrian College, our host for this event.  The Cambrian CYW Program includes a number of illustrious grads who have contributed to the growth of the OACYC and the profession as highlighted in our newsletter.   Special events were planned for the CCW/CYW Alumni of Cambrian preceding and following the Heroes Within Conference. 

There was something for everyone in the Heroes Within workshops -- a total of 15 throughout the day.  Topics included:
●    working with parents, street youth, aggressive boys, abused young women, child witnesses of abuse, teen substance abusers, and more
●   residential , day-treatment, school-based and community programs, including 2 workshops on private practice
●   special techniques like therapeutic storytelling, Lifebooks, drama, and "café therapy"
●   complete packages such as manuals to work effectively in schools, and resources to run parenting groups
